I'm not surprised by news like this anymore. When will Linux distributions properly sandbox our applications?

Our phones have had a better permission system for years.

Android allows apps to read from the clipboard at will, though it does show a toast. GrapheneOS, I believe, asks for permission first.

Thankfully iOS rolled out a permissions prompt for this. Pretty illuminating just how often other apps read the clipboard, e.g. Google Maps reading my clipboard every time I tapped on the text field to search for a destination.

I suspect this degradation is happening because the AI labs are using the LLM's output to feedback into the input, to create a thinking loop, and they're optimizing that.

I mean if you're using toy guns you're in for trouble. Do you take toy guns on a flight?

Reading through this thread, I notice not many people are using models from the Chinese AI labs ...

My current vibe/playing around setup is deepseek v4.1 flash with opus/sol as advisor agent, dsv4.1flash agents for self review and final review with opus/sol. I love how fast and cheap deepseek is. Using omp as harness.

Privacy policy is not great with deepseek api, but you are always just trusting their word with any hosted llm and in theory i could at least self host the models i use from deepseek.

They do, you only get access to it if you're comissioning chips.

ASML is the foundation. Without them, none of this would exist.

I think we can go even further and say that IBM, Zeiss, several Japanese companies, and even the US Department of Energy are the actual foundation since ASML is largely just an integrator of many different technologies they license from elsewhere.
